velocity is halved means new velocity=1/2v
hence kinetic energy =1/2m.(1/2v)raise to power 2
hence k.e = 1/2.m.1/4 v raise to power 2
hence new ke =1/8mv raise to power 2
hence new ke =1/4 times of old ke

We know,
K.E 1 = 1/2 mv^2
If, velocity is halved, 1/2 v, then,
K.E = 1/2 m (1/2v)^2
K.E = 1/2 m× 1/4 v^2
K.E 2 = 1/8 mv^2
Now,
K.E 1 / K.E 2 [Dividing]
= 1/2 mv^2 / 1/8 mv^2
= 1/4 mv^2
Thus, new kinetic energy is 4 times the old one.
