Answer:

being in series combination

the combined resistance or equivalent resistance will be equal to the sum of resistances

= (4+6+8)ohm

=18 ohm

Solution :-

Given ,

  • Resistor 1 ( R₁ ) = 4 Ω
  • Resistor 2 ( R₂ ) = 6 Ω
  • Resistor 3 ( R₃ ) = 8 Ω
  • Three resistors are connected in series

We need to find ,

  • Equivalent resistance ( Rₙ ) = ?

As we know that , if n number of resistors are connected in series

Rₙ = R + R + R . Rₙ

Similarly

Equivalent resistance = R₁ + R + R

Substituting the values of R₁ , R₂ , R₃

⇒ Rₙ = R₁ + R₂ + R₃

⇒ Rₙ = 4 + 6 + 8

Rₙ = 18Ω

Hence , combined resistances of three resistors = 18Ω
