calculate the density of a body which weighs 15 Newton in air and 12 Newton in water (density of water is equal to 1000kg/m³)

Apparent weight of body = w = 12 N

Weight in air = mg = 15 N

Buoyancy Force = Fb

{ Vb = volume of body, ρb = density of body, ρw = density of water}

We know that:

Fb = mg - w

Fb = 15 - 12 = 3 N

Vb*ρw*g = 3

Vb*ρw*g*ρb/ρb = 3

Vbρb*g*ρw/ρb = 3

mg*ρw/ρb = 3

15*1000/ρb = 3

1/ρb = 3/(15*1000)

1/ρb = 1/5000

ρb = 5000 kg/m³
