Answer:

54

Step-by-step explanation:

Factors of 12: 1,2,3,4,6

Factors of 30: 1,2,3,5,6,10,30

Common factors: 1,2,3,6

Highest Common factor: 6

Multiples of 12: 12,24,36,48,60

Multiples of 30: 30,60

Common Multiples: 60

Lowest Common Multiple: 60

If subtract HCF from LCM: 60-6 = 54

If subtract LCM from HCF: 6-60 = -54

Answer:54

Step-by-step explanation:

HCF of 12 and 30

12 = 2^2 x 3^1

30 = 2^1 x 3^1 x 5^1

In HCF, choose numbers that appear in both and pick the one with the smaller power

= 2^1 x 3^1

= 6

LCM of 12 and 30

In LCM, pick all numbers that appear in both and pick the ones with the higher power

= 2^2 x 3^1 x 5^1

= 60

Difference:

60 - 6

=54
