  • Used for 1 month (30 days)
  • Cost of electricity = Rs. 4 per unit

To Find –

  • Cost of the electricity.

Solution –

The Total energy consumed by the toaster in 30 days will be : 1500 W × 3/4 hour × 30 days

➸ 750 × 3/2 × 30

➸ 375 × 3 × 30

➸ 1,125 × 30

➸ 33,750 W h

➸ 33.75 kWh

Hence, the cost of energy consumed :

➸ Rs. 4 × 33.75

➸ Rs. 135

So, the total cost of energy consumed by the toaster in 30 days will be Rs. 135.

To find :

  • Energy consumed by the toaster for 1 month.
  • Cost of the energy used by toaster in 1 month at rate of Rs. 4 per unit

Solution :

As we know that the unit of Commercial Electricity is kWh. First of all we have to convert Power to Kilo Watt, then we can find cost.

⇒Power = 1500 W

⇒Power = 1500/1000

⇒Power = 1.5 kW

\therefore Power Consumed by toaster in one day is 1.5 kW

And, it is used for 45 mins which is 0.75 hours for 1 month, So the energy consumed in one month will be :

⇒Energy = Power * time

⇒Energy = 1.5 * 0.75 * 30

⇒Energy = 33.75

\therefore Energy consumed in one month is 33.75 units or kWh

Now, we have to find cost of energy used at rate of Rs. 4 per unit

⇒ Cost = Energy * price

⇒Cost = 33.75 × 4

⇒Cost = 135
