Calculate the energy consumed in a 500 watt bulb in 8 hours in kilowatt-hour and joules.

hint: 1kilowatt-hour = 3.6*10 6 joules​

Given:-

  • Power ,P = 500 W

  • Time taken ,t = 8 hour

To Find:-

  • Energy in kWh & Joules.

Solution:-

As we know that Energy is defined as the product of Power and time taken.

• E = P×t

Substitute the value we get

→ E = 500×8

→ E = 4000 J

Therefore the energy consumed by bulb in Joules is 4000 Joules.

Now , Calculating the Energy Consumed by bulb .

→ E = 500w ×8h.

→ E = 4000 Wh

I kWh = 1000 Wh

Therefore, 4000/1000 kWh

= 4kWh

Therefore, the Energy Consumed by bulb in Kilowatt-hour is 4kWh.
