Power consumed= power in watt×hours÷1000
= 75×(8×30)÷1000
=75×240÷1000
=18000÷1000=18 units

The energy consumed by the fan is equal to 18 units of electrical energy.

Given:

Power of the fan (P) = 75 Watt

The fan is used 8 hours daily for 30 days.

To Find:

The energy consumed by the fan in electrical units.

Solution:

→ The Power (P) of an electrical device is defined as the amount of electrical energy consumed by that device per unit of time. The SI unit of power is 'Watt (W)'.

→ In the given question, the Power (P) of the fan is equal to 75 watts.

This means that the fan consumes an energy of 75 Joules in 1 second.

The energy consumed by the fan in 1 hour = 75 Watt-hour.

Number of hours for which the fan runs (T) = 8 × 30 = 240 hours

The energy consumed by the fan = (75) × (240) = 18,000 Watt-hour

The electrical energy consumed by the fan = 18,000 Watt-hour

The electrical energy consumed by the fan = 18 Kilowatt-hour

As we know that 1 kilowatt-hour of energy is equal to 1 unit, therefore 18 Kilowatt-hour of energy would be equal to 18 units of electrical energy.

Therefore the energy consumed by the fan is equal to 18 units of electrical energy.
