QuEsTiOn :-

Calculate the force required to impart a velocity of 40 m/s in 10.0s to a car. The mass of the car is 1500 kg.

AnSweR :-

  • Required force = 6000 N

GIVEN:

  • Mass of the car, m = 1500 kg

  • Velocity, v = 40 m/s (final velocity)

  • Time, t = 10 seconds

  • Initial velocity, u = 0 ( Car starts from rest )

TO FIND :-

Force.= ?

SoLuTioN :-

♦ Now to find out the Force we should find out acceleration of the car .

Now,

According to first equation of motion

⇒ v = u + at

⇒ 40 = 0 + ( a × 10 )

⇒ 40 = 10a

⇒ a = 40/10

⇒ a = 4 m/s²

➤ Acceleration of the car is 4 m/s²

Now,

putting m = 1500 kg and a = 4 m/s² in Equation we get ,

⇒ f = m × a

⇒ f = 1500 × 4

⇒ f = 6000 N

Hence ,

The force required in this case is of 6000 newtons .
