Calculate the magnifying power of microscope if focal length of objective and eyepiece are 0.4cm and 2.5cm respectively. length of the tube is 16cm and inage is formed at infinity

In normal adjustment, object lies close to focus of objective and image is formed at infinity, magnification, m=fef0Ld

Where f0=1.6cm,f=2.5cm,d=21.7cm

L=d−f0=21.7−1.6=20.1cm (approx.)

⇒m=1.6×2.521.7×20.1=436.17=109.1≃110
