Calculate the mass percentage of benzene(C6H6) and carbon tetrachloride(CCl4) if 22g benzene is dissolved in 122g of carbon tetrachloride. ​

Given :

  • mass of benzene ( m 1 )= 22 g

  • mass of carbon tetrachloride ( m 2 )= 122 g /

Solution:

 \boxed{\%m/ m =  \frac{mass \: of \: solute}{mass \: of \: solution}  \times 100}

mass of solution

= mass of solute + mass of solvent

= 22 + 122

= 144 g

mass of solution = 144 g

\%m/ m =  \frac{m \: 1}{m \: 1 + m2}  \times 100

\%m/ m =  \frac{22}{144}  \times 100

 \boxed{\%m/ m =15.3\%}
