Given :

Mass of solute = 0.4 g

Volume of solution = 250 ml

To Find :

Molarity of the solution.

Solution :

Molarity : Number of moles of solute dissolved in one litre (or one 1 dm³) of solution.

» Symbol : M

» Effect of temperature : Changes with change in temperature

Formula :-

\bigstar\:\underline{\boxed{\bf{\purple{M=\dfrac{Moles\:of\:solute}{Volume\:of\:solution\:in\:L}}}}}

First of all we need to find moles of solute.

➙ n = w / m

  • n denotes moles
  • w denotes weight
  • m denotes molar mass

➙ n = 0.4/40

n = 0.01

Volume = 250 ml = 0.25 L

➠ M = n / V

➠ M = 0.01/0.25

M = 0.04 mol/L
