QUESTION:-

calculate the molarity of 4 molal solution of aqueous NaOh . if the density of solution is 1.25g/cl.

SOLUTION:-

➥ Molar mass of NAOH = 40g/mol.

➥ 4 mol NAOH(aq) in 1000g water.

➥ Mass of NAOH = 4 ×40 = 160g.

➥ mass of solution is = 1160g

➥ molarity = 4×0.125 × 1000 / 1160

.°. molarity is 0.431 molar.

NOW,

➥ density of solution is = 1.25g/ml.

➥ molar mass is = 40 g/mol.

➥ .°. mass = 4×40 =160g.

➥ .°. mass of solution = 1000 × 1.25 = 1250g.

➥ .°. mass of H2O = 1250 - 160 = 1090g.

➥ .°. molality = 4 / 1090 ×1000

.°. molality is 3.669 molel.

SOME FORMULAE RELATED TO MOLARITY.

• m = moles of solute / kilograms of solvent.

• d = m / v
