0.216

HCl is 36% by weight.

That is 36g of HCl in 100ml of water.

So the mass of HCl=36g

Mass of water=100-36

                      = 64ml

The Molar mass of HCl   = 36.45

The Molar mass of water= 18.01

Therefore, the number of moles of HCl= \frac{mass of HCl}{molar mass of HCl}

                                                                = \frac{36}{36.45}

                                                                = 0.98moles

Number of moles of water= \frac{mass of water}{molar mass of water}

                                           = \frac{64}{18.01}

                                           = 3.55 moles

Thus, the mole fraction of HCl= \frac{number of moles of HCl}{total number of moles of HCl and water}

                                                 = \frac{0.98}{0.98+3.55}

                                                 = \frac{0.98}{4.53}

                                                 = 0.216

The mole fraction of HCl is 0.216.
