CO2:
The molecular mass of carbon dioxide, CO2
= (1 × Atomic mass of carbon) + (2 × Atomic mass of oxygen)
= [1(12.011 u) + 2 (16.00 u)]
= 12.011 u + 32.00 u
= 44.01 u

To Find:

Molecular mass of carbon dioxide (CO₂) = ?

Solution:

As we know:

Atomic mass of Carbon = 12.011 u

Atomic mass of Oxygen = 16.00 u

Now,

Molecular mass of CO₂,

= (1\times Atomic \ mass \ of \ Carbon)+(2\times Atomic \ mass \ of \ oxygen)

On putting the values in the above formula, we get

= [1(12.011 \ u)+2(16.00 u)]

= 12.011 \ u+32.00 \ u

= 44.01 \ u

So that the molecular mass of Carbon dioxide is "44.01 u".
