HELLO!

To calculate the molecular mass of a compound, you need to know the atomic mass of the elements.

Atomic masses of:

C = 12

H = 1

O = 16

N = 14

Cl = 35.5

So now,

Molecular masses of:

H₂ = 2 x 1 = 2

O₂ = 2 x 16 = 32

Cl₂ = 2 x 35.5 = 71

CO₂ = 12 + (2 x 16) = 44

CH₄ = 12 + (4 x 1) = 16

C₂H₆ = (2 x 12) + (6 x 1) = 24 + 6 = 30

C₂H₄ = (2 x 12) + (4 x 1) = 24 + 4 = 28

NH₃ = 14 + (3 x 1) = 17

CH₃OH = 12 + (4 x 1) + 16 = 28 + 4 = 32

THANKS!
