total number of electrons in o^-2 ion is 10
proton number is 8
neutron number is 2
then for 16 ions electrons is 160
protons is 128
neutron number is 32

Answer : The number of electrons, protons and neutrons are 6.022\times 10^{24},48.176\times 10^{23}and48.176\times 10^{23} respectively.

Solution :

The atomic mass of oxygen = 16

Atomic number of oxygen = 8

As we know,

Atomic number = Number of proton

Number of neutron = Atomic mass - atomic number

So, The number of proton = 8

The number of neutron = 16 - 8 = 8

Now, we have to calculate the number of electrons in O^{-2} ions.

The number of electrons present in 1 molecule of O^{-2} ions = 8 + 2 = 10

As, 1 mole contains 6.022\times 10^{23} molecule.

So, the number of electrons in 1 mole of O^{-2} = (6.022\times 10^{23})\times 10=6.022\times 10^{24}

The number of protons in 1 mole of O^{-2} = (6.022\times 10^{23})\times 8=48.176\times 10^{23}

The number of neutrons in 1 mole of O^{-2} = (6.022\times 10^{23})\times 8=48.176\times 10^{23}
