Number of moles can be calculayed by using the formula, n (no. of moles)=

given mass of the substance ÷ molar mass of the substance

So in this case,

You must first find the molar mass of NaOH

Molar mass of NaOH = 23 + 16 + 1

= 40 g/mol

Using the above mentioned formula,

Number of moles in 60 grams of MaOH is

n= 60/40

= 1.5 moles of NaOH

Hope it helps...

Solution:

  • Molar mass of NaOH = 40g (Na = 23, O = 16, H = 1
  • No. of moles = gram weight / molar mass

30/40 = 0.75moles

Ans. 0.75 moles
