Explanation:

Ethane is an alkane with a molecular formula of C2H6, by summing up the respective atomic masses of it's constituent atoms we can find out the molecular weight which equals to (12x2+1x6)=30.

Now, one mole of ethane weighs 30 grams,

So, one gram of ethane contains 1/30 mole of ethane, similarly by multiplying 1/30 with 9, we will find the number of mole of ethane contained by 9 grams of ethane.

So, 9 gram of ethane equals to 9(1/30)=3/10=0.3 moles of ethane.

The answer is 0.3 moles of ethane.

Answer:

mole = weight of substance/ m. mass

here, molecular mass of ethane is C2H6

C2H6 = 12(2) + 6(1) =30gm

mole = 9/30 = 0.3
