Let oxidation number of O be x
Oxidation number of each H atom=+1
sum of Oxidation number of all atoms =2*(+1)+2(x)=2+2x=0
2x=-2
x=-1
Hence oxidation number of Oxygen in H2O2 is -1
b) To calculate oxidation number of Oxygen in O2F2 :
let the oxidation number of O be X
Oxidation number of F atom=-1
so sum of all the oxidation number =2(x)+1*(-2)
2x-2=0
2x=2
x=1
Hence the oxidation number of Oxygen in O2F2 is +1
