Explanation:

MOLAR MASS OF CALCIUM CLORIDE IS =40.1+2*17.

PERCENTAGE COMPOSITION OF CALCIUM IS 40.1/74.1.....

PERCENTAGE OF CHLORINE IS 17/74.1

DO same with other formula of percentage composition is mass of subtance /molar mass

Calcium Chloride have one Ca atom and 2 Chlorine Atoms

Molecular weight of Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) is:

40+35.5+35.5 = 111g/mol

a)

Mass percentage of Ca in CaCl2 is,

mass % = atomic mass of Ca/molecular weight of CaCl2 * 100

mass% = (40/111)*100

= 36.036%

Similarly,

% mass of Cl in CaCl2:

% mass = Molecular weight of Cl2/Molecular weight of CaCl2*100

= (71/111)*100

= 63.364%

b)

Calcium Nitrate Ca(NO3)2 have

1 Ca atom

2 N atoms &

6 O atoms.

Molecular weight of Calcium Nitrate is:

40+(2*14)+(6*16)

= 164g/mol

Now,

mass % of Ca in Ca(NO3)2 = Atomic Mass of Ca/Molecular weight of Calcium Nitrate*100

mass % of Ca = (40/164)*100

= 24.39%

Similarly,

mass % of N = (28/164)*100

= 17.07%

Similarly for Oxygen,

mass % of O = (96/164)*100

= 58.536%
