Let the mass be 'm'.

given,

height above the ground(h) = 7 m

acceleration due to gravity(g) = 9.8 m/s^2

to find: Potential energy

solution:

Potential energy is defined as the energy possessed by body by virtue of its position or configuration.

or, P.E = mgh

or, P.E = m * 9.8 * 7

or, P.E = (68.6*m) J

Therefore, Potential energy is (68.6*m) J

Given

  • Height (h) = 7 m
  • Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 9.8 m/s²
  • mass (m) = m

To find

  • Potential energy (P.E)

Solution

  • P.E = mgh
  • P.E = m × 9.8 × 7
  • P.E = 68.6 m

Hence the potential energy of the body is 68.6m J
