Step 1, Given Force = 2.5 N

Dimension of the brick = 25 cm x 10 cm x 5 cm

Step 2, Finding the pressure

We know, Pressure = Force Area

When it is placed on the widest base i.e. 25 cm then its length and breadth are 25 cm and 10 cm respectively.

So Area =

25 × 10= 250 cm 2 =

0.025m2

Therefore, Pressure =

2.5

0.025 = 100 Nm − 2.

Hence the pressure exerted by the brick is 100 N/m2
