Pressure at 5m depth will be equal to -
Atmospheric pressure + gauge

pressure(hρg).

So here

P= 1.01 × 10^5 + 5(h)*1(ρ)*10(g)

=> 101050 or

1.01050 × 10^5.

Answer: The pressure exerted on fish is 0.5 atm.

Given: Depth of water for fish is 5 m.

To Find: Pressure exerted on fish.

Explanation:

Step 1: The force applied perpendicular to the object's surface and dispersed throughout the area is referred to as the pressure. The gauge pressure is the pressure as compared to the surrounding air pressure. To express pressure, a variety of units are used. Some of which come from a force per area unit. Pascal is the SI unit of pressure (Pa). Similar to air pressure, water pressure refers to the force with which water flows through a pipe or channel.

Water pressure= ρgh

SI unit is Pa.

Where,

P = water pressure in Pa

ρ = density of water in kg.m-3

g = gravitational force in 9.81 m.s-2

h = height in m

Step 2: Pressure at 5m depth = atmospheric pressure + pressure exert by water

As we know that atmospheic pressure =1.01\times10^5 Pa

And pressure exert by water =\rho gh

Pressure at 5m depth

= 1.01\times 10^5 + 1000\times 9.8\times 5\\\\=1.5\times 10^5 Pa

So, we can say that pressure at 5m depth is 1.5\times 10^5 Pa or 1.5 atm.
