Momentum(M) = mass x velocity
                        = mv

1) M = 2mv
     ∴ ratio 1:2

2) M = 1/2(mv)
     ∴ ratio 1:1/2 = 2:1

3) M = 9mv
     ∴ ratio 1:9

Answer:

1.  \frac{1}{2}

2. \frac{2}{1}

3.  \frac{1}{9}

Explanation:

  • Momentum of a body is defined as the product of mass and velocity with which the body is moving.
  • We can also say that a body at rest has zero momentum or no momentum.
  • Let that the momentum of body, P=mv.
  1. When the velocity is doubled ,P=2mv                                                                              Therefore, \frac{P_{o} }{P_{r} }=\frac{mv}{2mv} =\frac{1}{2}
  2. When mass is halved, P=\frac{mv}{2}                                                                                       Therefore,, \frac{P_{o} }{P_{r} } =\frac{2mv}{mv} =\frac{2}{1}
  3. Both mass and velocity is increased three times,  P=9mv                             Therefore, , \frac{P_{o} }{P_{r} } =\frac{mv}{9mv} =\frac{1}{9}
  • Hence, the required ratio is as above.
