( warring this may or may not be long) The mass of each neutron is 1.008665 amu and that it's protium is 1.007825 amu. Now in calcium there are 20 protium and 20 neutrion. So the total mas of an atom can be calculated, But the experimentally determined mass is to be known. That will be less than the above computed. hence the difference is known to the mass defect< that could be found in amu. Each amu equals 931 (e=mc^2). S o binding energy right in the mass defect x 931. Hope this helps:)
