Given: Two resistors of 6 ohm and 3 ohm,  20 V

To find: The value of E, for given circuit, when value of 2 amp current is either flowing in clockwise or anticlockwise direction.

Solution:

  • Now we have given two resistors of 6 ohm and 3 ohm.
  • Lets consider the current flowing is in the clockwise direction, then:
  • According to Kirchhoff's law, we have:

                  (6 x 2) + (3 x 2) = E - 20

                  12 + 6 = E - 20

                  18 = E - 20

                  E = 38 V

  • Lets consider the current flowing is in the anti - clockwise direction, then:
  • According to Kirchhoff's law, we have:

                  (6 x 2) + (3 x 2) = - ( E - 20 )

                  12 + 6 = - E + 20

                  18 = - E + 20

                  E = - 18 + 20

                  E = 2 V

Answer:

             So the value of E when value of 2 amp current is either flowing in clockwise direction is 38 V and anticlockwise direction is 2 V.
