Given :

  • Mass of Carbon dioxide = 8.8g
  • Temperature = 31.1°C
  • Pressure = 1 bar
  • Gas constant (R) = 0.083 bar L /( K mol)

To find :

Volume of carbon dioxide

Formula used :

  • Mole = Mass ÷ molar mass
  • PV = nRT

SOLUTION :

First of all we need to find number of mole of carbon dioxide

  • Number of mole = 8.8 ÷ 44

{ Note - molar mass of carbon dioxide = 44 g/mol }

➝ Number of mole = 0.2 mole

  • Now convert temperature into Kelvin scale

➝ T = 31.1° C

➝ T = 31.1 + 273

➝ T = 304.1 K

Now using PV = nRT

\sf \implies \: 1 bar \times V \: = \: 0.2 mol\times 0.083 \dfrac{bar \:L  }{K \: mol}  \:  \times 304.1K \\  \\ \sf \implies \:  V \: = \: 0.2 \times 0.083 \times 304.1 \: L \\  \\ \sf \implies \:  V \: = \:  \bold{5.04 \: L}

ANSWER :

Volume of Carbon dioxide = 5.04 L
