Given:

  • Spring constant of a spring is 20N/m.
  • Displacement of the spring is 200cm.

To Find:

  • The work done by the spring.

Answer:

Here it's given that the spring constant of a spring is 20Nm and has a displacement of 200cm after application of the force .

Now , work done is

{\boxed{\bf{\leadsto Work=\dfrac{1}{2}k\:x^2}}}

where

  • k is spring constant .
  • x is displacement.

Using above formula , work done

= ½ × (200cm)² × 20N/m

= ½ × (2m)² × 20N/m.

= ½ × 4m² × 20N/m

= 2m² ×20N/m

= 40J.

Hence work done is 40J.

Force, F = kx where k = spring constant

F = 20 × 2 { x = 200 cm or 2 m }

F = 40 N

Work done, W = (kx^2) / 2

W = ( 20 × 4) / 2

W = 40 Joule.
