as the change in the energy is the work done

so

the change in potential energy is

m * g * h

1 * 4 *10 = 40J

which is the work that should be done

maths4995: give my other questions answer

F = mg

= 1 x 10

= 10N

Work done = fd

= 4 x 10 J = 40J

Hope it helps
