  • To find new and sacrificing ratio

so,

\sf \: old \: ratio  \: of \: a \: nd \: b= 2:1

admitted C as a new partner.

\sf \: share \: of \: c =  \frac{1}{5} \: from \: both \: ( \frac{1}{10} from \: a \: and \: b)

\sf \: new \: share \: of \: a =  \frac{2}{3}  -  \frac{1}{10} =  \frac{20 - 3}{30} =  \frac{17}{30}

\sf \: new \: share \: of \: b =  \frac{1}{3}  -  \frac{1}{10} =  \frac{10 - 3}{30}  =  \frac{7}{30}

then,

\sf \: share \: of \: c =  \frac{1}{5}  =  \frac{6}{30}

\rm\implies\blue{ \: new \: ratio = 17:7: 6}

  • To find sacrificing ratio:-
  • \rm =  > sacrificing \: ratio = old\: ratio - new \: ratio

\sf \: Sacrificing \:ratio \: of \:a = \frac{2}{3} -   \frac{17}{30} =  \frac{2 \times 10}{3 \times 10} -  \frac{17}{30} =  \frac{20 - 17}{30} =  \frac{3}{30}

\sf \: sacrificing \: ratio\: of \: b =  \frac{1}{3} -  \frac{7}{10} =  \frac{1 \times 10}{3 \times 10} -  \frac{7}{30} =  \frac{3}{30}

 \frac{3}{30} :  \frac{3}{30}  =  \frac{1}{10}:  \frac{1}{10}

\rm\implies\red{ \: sacrificing \: ratio = 1: 1}

Answer:

Sacrificing ratio is the proportion of the profit which is sacrificed or foregone by the old partners in favour of the new partner. The purpose of finding the sacrificing ratio is to share the goodwill brought in by the new partner. The share sacrificed is calculated by deducting the new share from the old share.
