Can 2 numbers have 12 as their h.c.f and 512 as their l.c.m. ? Justify your answer.

the L.C.M of two numbers should be exactly divisible by their H.C.F,

so now since 512 is not exactly divisible by 12 then 2 number can never have 12 as their H.C.F and 512 as their L.C.M

HCF 12= 2×2×3
LCM 512 =2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2×2

Since HCF contains other factors than 2, it is not possible.
