A body possess energy not only when it is in motion. When a body is in motion then it has some finite amount of kinetic energy . But when it is not in motion ,the body may possess energy in the form of potential energy .

Body can also possess some amount of internal energy . It can be explained as : energy is basically the capability of any body to do work. Suppose , you are sitting ideal in your room , and you suddenly noticed that someone has changed the position of your study table and you want to change it . So you pushed the table and shifted it to a location that suited you. This means you applied some finite force that caused a displacement i.e.. you did some work. So u had the capability to do work ,right ? This implies u had energy in the form of internal energy
