Yes this is possible. This process is done by a electromagnet. In this process an iron strip is coiled by a conductor wire and pass D.C. current through it. Then you see that the iron strip becomes a magnet and also become very hot. But, this is a temporary magnet. If you disconnect the current then the magnetic effect is also dissconnect
