no, a plane mirror cannot form an inverted image because a plane mirror can only make a virtual image and virtual images are never inverted.

parmarfreya12: yes reet you are correct a plane mirror has no curved surface so it forms only a virtual and same size image so it always forms erect image
ReetChauhan1112: thnku
anisha34: thanks a lot
ReetChauhan1112: ur most wlcum
anisha34: it really helped me
anisha34: so once again thank you

Hey Friend,

The image formed by a plane mirror is always virtual (meaning that the light rays do not actually come from the image), and thus upright, and of the same shape and size as the object it is reflecting. A virtual image is a copy of an object formed at the location from which the light rays appear to come. It will never form an inverted image as light rays reflected from the mirror appear to intersect each other only when proceeded backwards and hence the image formed will always be virtual, upright, and of the same shape and size as the object.

Hope it helps....... :-)
