Explanation:

As per this principle, authority can be delegated but accountability is absolute and cannot be delegated. The person who delegates authority remains accountable to his own boss for the work performance of his subordinates.

For example, the directors of a computer manufacturing company have asked their production manager to achieve a target production of 150 computers per day. The production manager has asked his five foremen to achieve this target. Two of them could not achieve the target.

In this case production manager is responsible and accountable for non-completion of target because by passing authority and work to foremen, manager cannot get rid of his responsibilities and accountability.

Answer:

Accountability can not be delegated.

Explanation:

Delegation-

Delegation of Authority refers to the delegation of authority and power to a subordinate.

Delegation of Accountability-

  • Accountability entails explaining any deviations in actual performance from the expectations set.
  • Accountability cannot be delegated.
  • For example, if 'A' is given a task with sufficient authority, and 'A' delegated this task to B and asked him to ensure that task is completed properly, responsibility and accountability remain with 'A'.
  • The top management is the most accountable. Being held accountable entails thinking outside of one's job description.
  • Accountability, in a nutshell, means being responsible for the end result. Accountability is unavoidable.

Hence, from the above discussion we can conclude that, the accountability of a task will always be with the person to whom it was allotted even after the task was delegated. The accountability doesn't get delegated at all.
