Its final speed, v = 0 m/s
Distance travelled by first car before it comes to rest, s = ((v+u)/2)t
= ((0+14.44)/2)5
= 36.11 m
Initial speed of the second car, u = 3 Kmh-1
= 0.833 ms-1
Its final speed, V = 0 m/s
Time taken to come to rest, t = 10s
Distance travelled by the second car before it comes to rest, s = (v+u )/2 x t
= (0+0.833)/2 x 10
= 4.167 m
∴ The first car travells further after breaks are applied .
