Given :-

The short and long hands of a clock are 8 cm and 12 cm long respectively.

To Find :-

Find the sum of distances traveled by their tips in two days i.e 48h

Solution :-

We know that

Circumference of circle = 2πr

Circumference of short hand = 2πr

Circumference of short hand = 2 × 22/7 × 8

Circumference of short hand = 44/7 × 8

Circumference of short hand = 50.2 cm

Circumference of long hand = 2πR

Circumference of long hand = 2 × 22/7 × 12

Circumference of long hand = 44/7 × 12

Circumference of long hand = 75.4 cm

Sum of distance travelled = 50.2 + 75.4

Sum of distance travelled = 125.6

 \underbrace{ \mathsf {GIVEN  \: \:   \: DATA} \: \:   }:

Radius of Long Hand(r₁) and Short Hand(r₂) of a clock are 12cm , 8cm Respectively.

 \underbrace{ \:  \mathsf{TO  \:  \: FIND} \:   \:  } :

The sum of distance travelled by both their tip in two days. i.e., 48 hours

 \underbrace{ \:  \:   \underbrace{  \: \mathrm{SOLUTION} \: } \:  \: } :

\red{ \colorbox{pink}{formula}} :

\orange{\colorbox{red}{Circumference of Hand = 2πr}}

then,

Circumference of Long Hand = 2πr₁

⇒ 2 × 22/7 × 12

⇒ 22/7 × 24

75.4cm

Circumference of Hand = 2πr₂

⇒ 2 × 22/7 × 8

⇒ 22/7 × 16

50.2cm

 \mathrm{ then}

Sum of Distance travelled by their tips

⇒ 75.4 + 50.2

125.6 cm
