HANDSCREW RULE:When you place your wrist along a straight current carrying conductor with thumb stretched along the direction of current the the curl of the fingers will give the direction of magnetic field lines.
This is also known as COCKSCREW RULE or MAXWELL's RIGHT HAND THUMB RULE.

RIGHT HAND THUMB rule
statement-
if the current carrying conductor is imagenates to be held in right hand such that the thumb point show the direction of current and then the four curved finger of Right hand will show the direction of magnetic field .
the right hand thumb rule can also expressed as Maxwell's cork screw rule
according to this rule if a right handed corkscrew is assumed to be held along the conductor and screw is rotated to move in the direction of the current then the rotation of the screw gives the direction of magnetic field
