Hello friend...
The needle of a compass is made up of magnet, so we all know that...
"Same poles of the magnets repels and opposite poles attracts".
So by using this principle, when we bring the south pole of the needle towards north pole of the magnet they start attracting each other because of opposite poles ie. 'north and south' but when north pole of the needle brought near to north pole of the bar magnet they starts repelling because of same pole ie. 'north'...
And when u will go to higher classes u will come to know that the magnetic field lines are the reason behind this property of attraction and repultion of the magnet cause these magnetic lines starts from north pole and ends at south pole of the magnet....
so when we bring same poles together the magnetic field lines starts repelling each other and when we bring opposite poles towards each other then these field line continues from North to south poles and thus attract each other...
Hope my answer helps you out and pls mark my answer as brainliest..
Thank you
