Can anybody tell me why we write CH3OC2H5 as ethylmethyl ether??

R-O-R are named as ethers.

according to IUPAC, the largest alkyl groupis named first in naming ethers.

in CH3OC2H5,

Ethyl group is a larger alkyl group than methyl one.

hence the name EthylMethylEther
