how is ADA deficiency cured by gene therapy?

ADA is the enzyme which helps in maturation of T. lymphocytes. when the gene coding for the enzyme ADA is absent , then these T.  lymphocytes fail to differentiate and mature and it leads to a condition known as SCID ( severe combined immuno deficiency).

treatment -

it can be cured by the gene therapy technique. in this technique the lymphocytes from a healthy person are taken , cultured in lab and these cultured cell are introduced into the affected child with the help of a retrovirus.
