Hey

Your answer is : ..5 ^ 1/2
we draw a number line and mark the integers −2, −1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. on it, so that the distance between any two consecutive integers is one unit. On this number line, we mark O and A at the points 0 and 2 respectively. At A, we draw AB of unit length which is perpendicular to OA. Now, we join OB. Taking O as the centre and OB as the radius, we will draw an arc which cuts the number line at P.

Now, point P represents the irrational numberon the number line. Let us verify it.

Using Pythagoras theorem in ΔOAB,

OB2 = OA2 + AB2

= 22 + 12

= 4 + 1

= 5

But OP = OB

follow the steps

1 -> Draw a line segment of any length greater than 5 cm

2-> Divindes the line segment in equal units

3-> Take O as starting Point or initial point

4 -> Take O as a center and Radius equal to ' Two Units ' ( Note unit shoulb be taken as per the line segment you just considered ). Draw an arc which cuts the line segment at Point say A....Now we have OA = 2 units

5 -> Now draw Perpedicular on Point 'A' using Compass.

6-> Take A as a center and Radius equal to 1 unit , Draw an arc which cuts the perpendicular at point M say..Such that AM = 1 units...

7 -> Join OM , We get a Right Triangle in which OA = 2 units and OM = 1 units...By pythagoras theorem we must have
OM^2 = OA ^2 + AM^2
= 2 ^2 + 1 ^2
= 4 + 1
= 5
om \:  =  \sqrt{5 }
8 -> Now Take O as a center And Radius = OM = root5, Draw an arc which cuts the line segment at point B say,
Here OM = OB = root5 = Radii of a circle

This is how we can reperesent root5 on number line...Hope this help..
