of cultivators for their inability to pay arrears

At The Time of East India Company's rule, poor people including peasants,farmers, soldiers, etc. were exploited by British rich people. This was part of the then Judiciary System which disabled perfect laws and right of poor people. The cultivators were forced to pay higher taxes on land. They were in debt and if they were unable to pay, they were brutally tortured. So, to take revenge, the poor joined the First War of Independence.
