can anyone explain me what is catalyst

Definition is that :-

⏹Catalyst is a substance, which either initiates a chemical reaction or accelerate the reaction without undergoing any permanent change in itself.

In simple words....

✔️catalyst are substance that donot take place in a reaction but increase the speed of the reaction.

➖⏹they affect the rate of reaction by increasing the speed of reaction.

➖✔️some of the catalysts are:-

1) preparation of H2 gas from and H2SO4 using copper sulphate solution acts as a catalyst.

2) electrolysis of H2O in the presence of conc H2SO4 as the catalyst.

examples:-

✔️Metals :-
⏹Ni (nickel), Pt (Platinum), Fe (Iron) etc

✔️chemical compounds:-
⏹ alcohols, KMnO4etc.
