Mahatma Gandhi launched the Rowlatt satyagraha due to following reasons:

1. The Rowlatt Act was an openly undemocratic measure taken by the British government. It allowed the imprisonment of Indian political leaders without any trial for a period upto three years. it means that the british leaders can arrest an indian without any proof of crime

2. it gave enormous power to the british government and no power to our leaders.

3.The law was passed in a hurried manner even after the united opposition of the indians

Gandhiji stood against  on the issue of Rowlatt Act because it had become an emotive political issue and had the potential to unite the Indians against a common enemy.
