a = 2-√5 / 2+√5 b = 2+ √5 / 2-√5

a ^ 2 - b ^2

(2-√5/2+√5)^2 - ( 2+√5/2-√5)^2

=(2+√5(1/2-1))^2 - (2- √5(1/2-1))^2

=(2-√5/2)^2 - (2+√5/2)^2

= 2^2 + (√5/2)^2 - 2×2×√5/2 -2^2 - (√5/2)^2 -2×2× √5/2

= - 2(2×2× √5/2) = - 4√5

you can also find

a^2 - b ^2 = (a+b)(a-b)

this is your answer
