Answer:

There are four (4) basic properties of real numbers: namely; commutative, associative, distributive and identity. These properties only apply to the operations of addition and multiplication. That means subtraction and division do not have these properties built in.

There are five primary properties of arithmetic.

1) Closure Property- It is applicable only in case of Addition and multiplication.

It basically means that the sum or product of two integers is another integer.

2) Commutative Property- It is also applicable only in case of Addition and multiplication.

It means that in whatever order we write it, the answer will be same. For example- 2+3=5

and 3+2= 5

3) Associative Property- It is applicable for only addition and multiplication. It means that we can form an association with 3 no.s For ex- 2+(3+4)= 9

again, (2+3)+4=9 as well.

4) Identity property- It is applicable only for Addition and multiplication. In case of Addition, Identity is 0. It means. any number+ 0= that same number. In Multiplication, it is 1. It means that any number multiplied by 1 is the same number.

Distributive Property- It is applicable for only multiplication. It means 5×(3+4)= (5×3)+(5×4)
