in kinematics,

average velocity is used to calculate the total displacements travelled in total time.

average speed is used to calculate the total distances travelled in total time.

the change in displacement at a specific point of motion is called as instantaneous velocity.

the change in velocity at a specific point of motion is called as instantaneous acceleration.

The equations of Kinematics

v = u + at

v^2-u^2 = 2as

s= ut^2+ 1/2at^2
