Step-by-step explanation:

ax + by = a - b

by multiplying the equation with b,

=> abx + b²y = ab - b² _____________(i)

bx - ay = a + b

by multiplying the equation with a ,

=> abx + a²y = a² + ab ______________(ii)

by subtract (i) from (ii)

=> (a²- b²)y = a² + b²

= (a+b) (a-b) y = (a+b) (a+b)

=> y = (a+b) (a+b) / (a+b) (a-b)

by cancelling the common factor (a+b)

=> y = (a+b) / (a-b)

substitute y= (a+b) / (a-b) in ax + by = a - b,

=> x= (a²-2ab) / (a²-ab)

Hope this will help you.
