Answer:

₹6

Step-by-step explanation:

sells at ₹24

gains 24% of the cost price of the toy.

therefore, 24 x 24/100 = 5.6 or 6(because decimal is more than .5)

cost price of the toy is ₹6

Answer:

₹20

Step-by-step explanation:

let 'x' be the cost price of the toy

profit made on the toy when sold at ₹24 is x%

Final cost = Cost Price * (1 + Profit%)

24 = x(1+\frac{x}{100} )\\

24 = \frac{x(100+x)}{100}

2400 = x^{2} +100x

x^{2} +100x-2400 = 0

Which is a quadratic eqution, which on solving gives us

⇒  x^{2} +120x-20x-2400=0

x(x+120)-20(x+120)=0

x-20)(x+120)=0

Hence x=20 or x=-120

But since we are dealing with costs, -120 is not possible

∴ The cost of the toy is ₹20
